China has revised its Civil Aviation Law to formally regulate unmanned aircraft, introducing airworthiness certification requirements for all drone entities, effective July 1. This move aims to address regulatory gaps and lagging oversight in the rapidly expanding drone market, which has seen flight delays due to illegal operations. Manufacturers must assign unique identification codes to drones. The new regulations are expected to reshape China's low-altitude economy, projected to exceed 2 trillion yuan by 2030. Interim regulations requiring real-name registration for civil drones have been in place since 2024.
