Apple is implementing new age verification measures on its App Store to comply with child safety laws in regions including Brazil, Australia, Singapore, and US states Utah and Louisiana. Starting in 2026, users in select countries must confirm they are over 18 to download age-restricted apps, with the App Store automating this process. Apple is also expanding its Declared Age Range API to help developers verify user age while protecting privacy. Apps with loot boxes in Brazil will be rated 18 automatically. Developers may still have separate legal obligations depending on local regulations.
