Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) has officially begun volume production of its 2-nanometer chips in the fourth quarter of 2025, according to an update on its website. This next-generation technology, centered at Fab 22 in Kaohsiung, utilizes a new transistor architecture promising significant improvements in performance and power efficiency, particularly for AI and mobile applications. Compared to its 3nm chips, the 2nm process offers a speed increase or power reduction, with enhanced transistor density. TSMC is also developing an improved N2P version for 2026.
