Anthropic CEO Predicts AI Could Automate Software Engineering Tasks Within 6 to 12 Months

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei predicted at the World Economic Forum that AI could perform most or all tasks currently done by software engineers within six to twelve months. He noted that some engineers at Anthropic already rely on AI to write code, editing rather than creating it manually. While Amodei highlighted rapid progress, he acknowledged uncertainties remain, especially in areas like chip manufacturing and model training that AI cannot yet fully automate.
