ISRO is developing a third launch pad at its Sriharikota spaceport, aiming for commissioning within four years. This expansion is crucial for launching heavier satellites, exceeding 12,000-14,000 kg, and accommodating next-generation launch vehicles. The project is currently in the procurement phase, with vendors being identified. The new pad will support both crewed and uncrewed missions, complementing the existing two pads used for PSLV and GSLV launches, and aims to bolster India's capabilities in international space activities.
