Ahmedabad Develops AI System to Identify Stray Cattle Using Biometric Features

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation is developing an AI-based system to identify stray cattle using unique biometric markers such as the cow's nose pattern, facial features, and visible marks. The AI Centre of Excellence at GIFT City, Gandhinagar, has engaged an agency to create a deep-learning model that analyzes images from CCTV cameras across the city. With about 1.1 lakh cows already tagged with RFID and microchips, this technology aims to quickly match animals to their owners and address traffic and safety issues caused by stray cattle.
