
The Gates Foundation and OpenAI have launched a $50 million partnership called Horizon1000 to help African countries use artificial intelligence to improve health systems, starting with Rwanda. The initiative aims to support 1,000 primary health clinics and communities across several countries by 2028. Bill Gates highlighted AI's potential to address severe healthcare worker shortages in poorer countries, especially amid recent cuts to international aid that have contributed to rising preventable child deaths in sub-Saharan Africa.
