
The Union Health Ministry, through the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), has launched India's first online training programme on artificial intelligence (AI) in medical education. Aimed at equipping around 50,000 doctors with foundational AI knowledge, the course covers clinical practice, diagnostics, decision-making, research, and education. Union Minister Anupriya Patel emphasized that AI is essential to augment doctors' capabilities, address healthcare workforce shortages, and shift care toward proactive, preventive approaches, while ensuring ethical and accountable use.
