Gujarat is set to establish the Indian AI Research Organisation (IAIRO) at GIFT City, operational from January 1, 2026. Approved by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, this initiative aims to bolster AI research and development nationwide. The IAIRO will operate under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, with equal contributions from the Gujarat government, the Central government, and the Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance (IPA) as the anchor private partner. An estimated Rs 300 crore is allocated for the first five years, aligning with national AI missions and Gujarat's AI Action Plan.
