India Marks 11 Years of Digital India with Major Growth in Connectivity and Digital Payments
India's Digital India initiative, marking 11 years, has significantly expanded digital infrastructure with over 107 crore internet connections and nearly 100 crore broadband subscribers. The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) processes around 75 crore daily transactions, recognized by the IMF as the world's largest real-time payment system and adopted in nine countries. The program has enhanced governance, financial inclusion, and welfare delivery through Direct Benefit Transfers exceeding Rs 51.5 lakh crore. Future growth focuses on AI, semiconductors, and indigenous manufacturing to support India's goal of becoming a developed economy by 2047.
