India Approves 23 Institutions for Quantum Labs Under National Quantum Mission

The Indian government has approved 23 academic institutions to establish quantum teaching laboratories under the National Quantum Mission (NQM), which has a budget of ₹6003.65 crore for 2023-2031. The mission aims to develop quantum computers, satellite-based secure communication, and high-precision sensors. A Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle mission and a navigation satellite for the Indian Navy are planned for 2026. The Department of Science and Technology is reviewing manpower guidelines to align with current research frameworks.
