India Advances in 5G, Joins Global 6G Standard-Setting, Emphasizes SIM Binding

Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia highlighted India's rapid telecom advancements at the Rising Bharat Summit 2026, noting the fastest global 5G rollout with 40 crore users and projecting 100 crore 5G customers by 2030. He emphasized India's transition from technology adopter to a global leader, now participating in 6G standard-setting alongside 30 countries. Scindia also stressed the importance of SIM binding for security and fraud prevention, and described artificial intelligence as a transformative opportunity for India's digital future.
