Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) plans to complete a new fabrication plant in Tainan by 2028 to expand capacity amid rising global demand for AI chips. The project, covering 15.46 hectares in Tainan Science Park, is undergoing an environmental impact assessment with construction expected to start later this year. The facility will include production areas, administrative buildings, green spaces, and infrastructure. TSMC has not confirmed if the plant will use its 2-nanometer process technology, which is being developed at other sites.
