The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is developing a third launch pad at its Sriharikota spaceport, aiming for commissioning within four years. This expansion is crucial for launching heavier satellites, weighing over 12,000-14,000 kg, which require larger launch vehicles. ISRO is currently in the vendor identification and procurement phase for this significant infrastructure upgrade. The Sriharikota facility, also known as Satish Dhawan Space Centre, is ISRO's primary launch complex.
