Google is seeking to dismiss a lawsuit filed by Penske Media Corp. (PMC), publisher of Rolling Stone and Billboard, which alleges that Google's AI-generated search summaries violate antitrust laws by reducing website traffic for publishers. Google argues the lawsuit is legally flawed, stating its AI overviews do not prevent users from visiting publisher sites and that it has no obligation to index content on publishers' preferred terms. PMC contends that Google's practices harm their revenue model, which relies on search referrals.
