An international team of scientists, led by Rutgers University researchers, has challenged the existence of a sterile neutrino after a decade of study. Using the MicroBooNE experiment's liquid-argon detector and neutrino beams, they ruled out a single sterile neutrino with 95% certainty. Published in Nature, the findings represent a significant development, removing a major doubt in neutrino research and prompting new directions for future studies.
