Meta is reportedly planning to lay off approximately 1,500 employees, about 10% of its Reality Labs division, which employs around 15,000 people. The cuts are expected to disproportionately affect teams working on virtual reality headsets and metaverse projects. This strategic shift redirects resources from virtual and augmented reality toward artificial intelligence and AI wearables. Meta's CTO, Andrew Bosworth, has called an important all-hands meeting for Reality Labs employees, fueling speculation about the layoffs, which could be announced as early as Tuesday.
