Jannik Sinner began his Wimbledon 2026 title defence with a challenging five-set victory over Miomir Kecmanovic, winning 4-6, 6-3, 6-7(6), 6-2, 6-3 on Centre Court. Despite suffering a fall that caused a bleeding toe, Sinner continued without medical treatment and showed resilience to overcome the injury and erratic play. The win extended his Wimbledon match-winning streak to eight and equalled the Italian record for Grand Slam wins. He will face Nuno Borges in the second round.
