Punjab Launches Monthly Financial Assistance Scheme for Women Under Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann launched the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana, a flagship scheme providing monthly financial assistance to women. Eligible general category women receive Rs 1,000 per month, while Scheduled Caste women get Rs 1,500. Over 40 lakh women have registered, with the first three-month instalment credited starting July 1. The government allocated Rs 9,300 crore for the scheme, aiming to empower women financially. Opposition leaders criticized the delayed rollout and demanded arrears for the period since the government took office.
