Explosion at Mining Explosives Storage in Myanmar Kills Over 45 People
A powerful explosion on Sunday at a building storing mining explosives in Kaungtup village, northeastern Myanmar, killed over 45 people and injured around 70 others. The blast occurred near the Chinese border in an area controlled by the Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), an ethnic armed group. Rescue teams recovered at least 46 bodies, including six children, and transported injured individuals to a local hospital. More than 100 houses near the site were damaged. The TNLA stated the explosives were gelignite used for mining, and an investigation into the cause is ongoing.
