Researchers have identified a new Begonia species, Begonia neelamorum, in Arunachal Pradesh's Keyi Panyor district. The plant, found at about 1,000 meters elevation on steep, moist river valley walls, features a single light-green leaf with double-serrated margins and glandular hairs. Morphological analysis showed it differs from its closest relative, Begonia prolifera. Named after the Neelam clan of the Nyishi tribe, who assisted in its collection, the discovery was detailed in the journal Taiwania by a team led by Assam botanist Dipankar Borah.
