Southwest Monsoon Advances into Pune and Maharashtra After Delay
After a prolonged delay, the southwest monsoon has advanced into Pune and parts of Maharashtra, including Alibaug, as confirmed by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Pune experienced its first widespread June showers after 21 days, mainly due to thunderstorms from moisture-laden westerly winds. While the monsoon's official onset in Pune is still considered pending, rainfall is expected to increase from June 24, with forecasts of thunderstorms continuing through June 25. The monsoon is also progressing into neighboring states, with Mumbai expected to receive monsoon rains within 48 hours.
