Ninder Ghugianvi Receives Senior Research Fellowship for Punjabi Music Study
Ninder Ghugianvi, a Punjabi writer and folk culture researcher from Faridkot district, has been awarded the Senior Research Fellowship by India's Ministry of Culture for a two-year project titled "125 Years of Punjabi Singing." Despite limited formal education and early jobs as a gardener and court orderly, Ghugianvi has authored nearly 70 books, including an acclaimed autobiography translated into multiple languages. His work is studied academically, and he has received honors such as the Shiromani Punjabi Sahitkar Award and Sahitya Akademi recognition.
