Schools Closed in Five Tamil Nadu Districts Amid Heavy Rainfall and IMD Alerts
Heavy rainfall across Tamil Nadu has led to school closures in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, and Ranipet districts on October 21 as a precautionary measure. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued orange and yellow alerts, forecasting heavy to very heavy rain until October 26 due to a low-pressure area forming over the Bay of Bengal. Authorities have advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel and waterlogged areas, while civic bodies are managing drainage and relief efforts amid ongoing monsoon conditions.
