Ammonia Gas Leak in Tamil Nadu Seafood Facility Causes 17 Deaths, Probe Underway
An ammonia gas leak at a seafood processing facility in Tiruvallur district, Tamil Nadu, on June 21 has resulted in 17 deaths, all women from Odisha, Assam, and Jharkhand. A total of 83 people were affected, with 15 women still hospitalized, including one on ventilator support. Authorities are investigating illegal recruitment of minors at the facility, with reports indicating some victims were underage. The deceased's remains have been airlifted to their home states.
