Since Kapil Dev became president of the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) in June 2024, the tour has seen nearly 60% growth in both the number of tournaments and prize money. This expansion, supported by partnerships with sponsors like DP World and Amul, aims to raise world ranking points for Indian golfers by attracting higher-ranked international players. The increased prize money and events, including the upcoming DP World India Championship, are intended to enhance Indian golfers' chances to compete globally and qualify for the Olympics and Asian Games.
