Noida International Airport Opens as Hindon Airport Sees Route Reductions in NCR
India's aviation sector is expanding with the opening of Noida International Airport (Jewar), increasing the number of operational airports to 163 by 2026. Uttar Pradesh leads with 18 airports, including Jewar, enhancing connectivity in the region. Meanwhile, Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad, launched under the UDAN scheme to ease Delhi's airport traffic, has seen a decline in routes and traffic, with at least 16 routes discontinued due to operational challenges and airline withdrawals.
